... just curious, I found at "
www.music-connection.com" that they sell a NECK HB1 and a BRIDGE HB1!!! Then looking at the homepage of Rickenbacker, under "
http://www.rickenbacker.com/pdf/gpickups.pdf" there is a HB1 for BASS POSITION and a HB1 for TREBLE POSITION!!!
IS THERE REALLY A DIFFERENCE IN THE HB1 FOR DIFFERENT POSITIONS???

And I might also question that if this is the case, what goes into the middle position of a Lemmy?

Peter: The humbuckers are the same. As far as I know the different codes reflect different lengths of wire on the pickups. Should I be off base on this, I trust that Kenny or John Hall will set the record straight here.

Hi Peter,
thank you for calming me down (I suspected a mistake when I changed the PU from gold to chrome).
You're right, the lenght of the wire is definitely the visible difference. As the 4004 cavities are not too comfortably large it makes perfect sense to have different wire length. Otherwise the long one needed to be cut... but that is RICK: same price - more comfort!

I know that the high gain bridge pickup is slightly wider than the neck, maybe this is the case here? Or are there no or different pole pieces than on a high gain?

You're right, Bob, there are no 'high-gain-style' polepieces on those humbuckers, just two blade polepieces, one per coil.
