Dear Mr. Hall,
Why doesn't Rickenbacker make the 4005 anymore?

He has stated previously the lack of demand for the instrument.

I have gotten the impression that he never thought much of it. To be honest, I did not either until I played Jeff Scott's.

Why did you get that impression Ted? He didn't shut the door on reissuing them though either. Also they are expensive to make, Lakland has a hollowbody (semi?) and it's not cheap. I'd buy one though if they were available.

The 4005 is easily my favorite model.

I like the idea of a semi-hollow Rick bass and would definitely buy one, too.

C'mon Ben - use your pull at the factory to get the 4005 back into production! Maybe a Ben Hall Signature Series 4005?

Ben, why is that? What style player are you?

OK, I've never thought that I'd like the 4005 model, but,,,,,If a 4005 variation would come out sharing some of the finish options that is exclusive to the 4004CII, I would be very interested.

Jim, I'm beginning to think you'd buy a 4-string refrigerator as long as it was Fireglo!

I can't question your taste. I personally prefer Mapleglo... but my prodigal 4001 is JG and there's something about a nicely-aged Fireglo...
