Hey ... he was only 25 when I was 16! What happened??

I posted this elsewhere here, but it's worth repeating. My ex-bandmate and roommate, Steve Dudas, has played guitar with Ringo on his last three CDs. Steve hooked up with Ringo through Mark Hudson, who produces and plays bass (and very well, I might add, using a Hofner). Steve went to L.A. from Pittsburgh almost 30 years ago, hooked up with the Hudsons, and has been doing great ever since, working with Aerosmith and others as a guitarist & songwriter. Ringo gives Steve credit for much of the work on "Choose Love," the latest CD. It's worth hearing -- very "Beatlesque". But what else could it be? Nice songs, great production. Ringo's drum tracks are live, one take (so he says and I belive him).

Ringo sounds great, both drumming and singing. I have to wonder how much ProTools contributes to his singing in tune, but the drumming is excellent. He has given interviews saying that all the drums were played live, one take, and that the band played live as well (overdubs were done, but the basic tracks are the band "playing live, all within six feet of me" says Ringo. I don't think Clapton's on this one, although Billy Preston and Chrissie Hynde are. All the players have done their homework -- there's even a quote of the guitar line from "Dizzy Miss Lizzie."

I think Clapton played on "RingoRama" most notably in "Never Without You" which was Ringo's tribute song to George. I believe Dave Gilmour plays on this record although (gasp) I haven't actually bought it yet and can't say for sure.
