Second Best 4003 Modification (and Cheap)

I'm assuming the first best modification is too shield the d*** thing (which I need to do), but I did the .0047uF cap. thing on the treble output with spectacular results! And, I used a $0.17 ceramic disk capacitor!

The neck/bass pickup is louder now, but if I dial its volume down a third, I get a perfect blend of comforting bass and cutting treble. Of course, a slight turn either way adjusts the balance to whatever tone I need, and a switch flick either way gives me a different bass ;-)

I highly recommend trying this.

I also think that shielding is a great idea .
The control cavity really needs it .

The pickups could use a pair of dummy coils wired in series to remove lots of noise .Each coil would NOT have a set of magnets .That way they would not be 'hearing' the strings , just removing the noise.

Many companies do this with their 'noiseless' single coil pickups.
