'50's Hofner President - value

Post by tony_carey »

I've just seen a Hofner President that is reliably dated by the owner as a 1950's gtr, but not the exact year. It has not been out of it's case for many years & has suffered....the finish is badly crazed & the neck needs a reset very badly (unplayable), as well as general trim needing looking at, mildew all over the neck etc. It isn't actually in bad condition though & still looks quite good (natural).

Does anybody have any idea what it would be worth if it were perfect & it's value in it's current state? I know nothing about Hofners at all!
'Rickenbacker'...what a name! After all these years, it still thrills me.

A perfect one would be worth a lot of money. I'm no Hofner expert but I'd say over a grand easy.

That's a nice bass Jerry.
