This just came up on eBay. It had a BIN of US$1295 however, as I was pondering whether to hit the button, an opening bid of $36 was made by another bidder. A case of the quick or the dead!

looks pretty trashed to me. I paid 800 for my 87 4003 and it is in WAY better shape!

Charly,

The '72 4001FG has it's original worn finish and has many of the desirable and collectible features, which were discontinued later in 1973 eg full width inlays, toaster neck pickup, checkerboard binding, split bridge, original Grover tuners, clear plexi finger rest etc. The prices for these instruments have continued to increase with most recent examples reaching over US$2000. It will be interesting to see where this one finally finishes!

It's seen a lot of hard use, but the surface could easily be redone, $1295 was a bargain IMHO.

As Darren says, it's got all the goodies ...

Man...the BIN was only $1295.00?!?!

Can't believe I missed that with the way my O.C.D. *** checks ebay constantly!

It's not trashed...it's MOJO!

It would seem to me, Mojo would protect it a bit more!

It's been abused over the years, but is highly salvagable ..

What egit would bid $36 though, unless the owner realised he'd made a mistake and had a shill kill the BIN ....

I reckon I deliberated approximately 30 seconds when the BIN was still there. I tossed up whether the bank account could afford another hit after my purchase of a 1965 360-12FG on Monday. The BIN disappeared before my very eyes! Bugger!

I just got one but thought, at these numbers I'll hit it a few times. At $1295 I would have flown there!

A give away at $1295. A stock J/G 76 finished at over $1400 the other day. I think many one of us would have BIN without even thinking! Could have been worse, the emperor could have got it at that price....He is the high bidder at present.

This will probably reach over $2000...

I think $2,000.00 is a good price.

I WAY over paid for my "72", but mine is much better shape.

Here's the one I snatch the other month for $1500 BIN, and sold to Jim. Now I'm kicking myself in the ***, cause I just had to have a c64S. Oh well there's more out there, and Jim will cherish it more than I would have.
