My Dead By Forty project is going to be put on hold for now as I have joined a new project. The stuff we're doing reminds me of the heavier Queens of the Stone Age meets first album Soundgarden meets Bon Scott era AC/DC. Melodic, heavy, 70s-ish feel sorta.

We don't have a name yet and haven't really put any vocals to the 3 or 4 songs we have worked out.

Line up is as follows:

Brian Malbone - guitar
Mike ? - guitar
Me - bass
Joey Rudacil (Buzzard, Crab Nebula, KBJ) - drums

The drummer is someone I have admired for well over a decade. The guy is just absolutely incredible.

Both Brian and myself are trying vocals but it wouldn't be so bad to have an actual frontman.

The drummer gave me a compliment (some of you would take it as an insult methinks)...he said "Man, that Rick sure doesn't sound like a Rick...It sounds awesome!" Image

We're tuned to drop-d which is a new thing for me. I am thinking of just tuning the whole thing to d but some of the riffs were doing makes it easier to stay in the drop tuning.

More details as they become available.

Congrats, Sean!

Sounds like you really admire the drummer and that mutual admiration should go a long way towards knitting you into a solid unit.

But remember--you ain't REAL metal until you're tuned to C#!

LOL

Jeff would say that "it ain't real (insert any musical style here) until you play a 5 string!!!
Better tell Lemmy and Geezer that they aren't "metal".

The need for motivational lectures delivered directly to the drummer is yet another reason for keeping a Fender in your gig/golf bag...

Good luck, Sean...
