Troggs

Post by Scastles »

Another UK group who succeeded over there and the U.S. but had a little more success with their singles in the UK than in the states. Their first big hit here was 'Wild Thing' but how many folks know the interesting part about the guy who wrote it? Not trying to horn in on Peter's turf. He usually poses this kind of stuff.

1. He's Angelina Jolie's uncle, Jon Voight's brother.

2. He is persona non grata in Vegas, Atlantic City, and Reno for card counting, not illegal but frowned upon because it tilts the odds.

3. He wrote "Angel of the Morning".

I prefer to think of him as only Angelina Jolie's uncle. Thanks for the bio.

A very incomplete one, BTW. Sorry to spoil the guessing game, Stan...

There's a whole lot of misinformation that's been circulated about Chip in the past, though...

A lot of people get Reg and Chip mixed up; that's one bit of misinformation that circulates. Supposedly Reg wrote the song about a girlfriend he had. Not.

Hey, Paul, no apology needed. Someone was supposed to know the answer, which was the whole idea. First right guess, wins (but in this case I have nothing to give to you, check back with me later). I figured most folks would have a hard enough time just getting past who is Chip Taylor.

Added little note, Paul, about the Troggs since I think you have somewhat of an affinity for the Beach Boys. The Troggs tried to make a comeback in '70 doing a cover of 'Good Vibrations' and put it on a single....needless to say it didn't work out too well. I haven't heard it and I'm not sure I want to.

Omigod...I couldn't imagine, although they did soften things up a bit with "Love is All Around You".

Awful, truly awful. Reminds me of the William Shatner "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" cover.

I gotta agree with Paul. You can't really replicate the BB's music. Better question, of all the material you could possibly choose from why do a cover of this particular song? And, you're trying to make a comeback? I would have gone back and said, " Hey, Chip, got any material up your sleeve?"
