Who now owns a guitar that used to be yours?

This might be fun to track down your previously owned instruments.
To start, I sold an early '80's 620/12 BG with black TRC and pickguard (I don't know the serial #). Anyone have it now?

It would probably break my heart to know where my now-gone Rics ended up. I have my 1997 and 360V64 though. They're not going anywhere.

I have a policy: I buy Rics but never sell 'em...
up to now I have kept all the Rics I bought - 5 basses and 2 12 stringers.

I've only ever bought 1 used Rick and it was from a fellow forumite. Don't know who had it before him.
My other 3 were all bought new this year and another new one is on the way.
I won't be selling any of them but my son probably will when he inherits them - he's a leftie and I'm not!!

I haven't sold any guitars. Howard, my nephew (a right-handed player) will someday be inheriting my lefty RICs. Maybe he and your son should work out a deal once we're both gone.

I've bought and sold more Rickenbackers than some guitar shops I've been in.
Most were to people I know, and I could track them down again - including my first one, a '78 4001 BG. Also, a forum member has my 381/12v69 BG.
Then there's some that went away, and a better version of the same thing came along (like my 320).
But a few did, as they say, get away. The ones I'd like back:
'73 480 (refin) - sold in Florida circa '97
'87 350 JG - same
'73 4001 FG - sold on pre-eBay internet
'81 370/12 WAL - sold on eBay
This last one is the one I want the most - it's beat to hell and can't be worth much, but I had it a long time and it's muy sentimental.

I haven't sold a Rick, but after I bought my '66 335 I was told that someone in South Side Johnny and the Jukes had owned it. I have no clue and I haven't pursued the possibility.

SELL an instrument??? I still haven't managed to do that yet. They become like "family."
Perhaps if I get something I don't like, I'll think of it as my "ex-."

My M.O. is to sell instruments if they start collecting dust. If a guitar is not being played, it does not belong in my house. That was the trouble with other Rics I've owned. I bought them thinking they would unlock further dimensions of mojo for me when in fact not one has compared to either my 360V64 or 1997SPC/VB. Ever. So goodbye to both 340s (one 6, one 12), a 330VB/VP, and a 650A/VT. Each one a beauty too.
Noel
Somehow I wish I still had them all - but that would just make me greedy.

I had a ever-growing collection a few years back of 21 or so guitars and basses, and then realized I had to stop it!! So I sold off most of the herd and now have it down to a relatively managable 3 basses (#4 on the way) and 3 guitars, 2 acoustic.

I sold my MB 660/12 to a forumite to fund 33% of a heavily customized wooden flute. I loved it - the looks, the sound, everything, but I regularly play Irish music socially, while my Ricks are for bedroom-rockstar type playing.
The 330 will follow me to the grave, however.
