Howdy,

Today I finally paid off and took delivery of my new 360 in MG (6-string)! I had a tough time finding the factory recommended string gauge, so I had one made up at my local store. BTW: where do ya'll get 6-string sets 10-42?
Anyway, I've been strumming and singin' my HEAD off for the last hour and-a half. Beatles songs, "The Last Time" by the 'Stones, "Just got Paid" by ZZ Top (with just the neck p/u and played through my '65 Princeton on 10, it ROCKED!)
I feel like i'm 20 years younger, 50 lbs lighter and have a British accent with my shiny new Rickenbacker! Thank you Roger Rosmiesel, the late F.C. Hall and of course John Hall! Thanks for letting me share my excitement here; I know ya'll understand.
BTW: this guitar sounds wonderful through 6v6 amps like my '68 Vibro Champ and my '65 Princeton. Short of an EL 34 equipped Vox or Marshall, smaller Fenders get my vote for Rickenbacker 6-strings.

All we all (plural of "we all") get 10-42 string sets from North Coast Music, Pick of the Ricks, and other vendors. These are the Rickenbacker set that come with new Rickenbacker standard-scale-length 6-string models. Eight bucks a set at NCM, $8.95 at POR.

You bought a new Rick and changed the strings to something else, or???

I'm confused. That guitar should have come with 10-42s.

Larry,

Great post above! So glad to hear that you're happy with your 360MG. There's nothing quite like the excitement of taking delivery of a new Rickenbacker (be it brand new or in my case, vintage new)!

Paul,

The strings on my new 360 were shot. Couldn't find 10-42 anywhere in Shreveport,La. Had to make up a set from GHS and Ernie Ball spares.
My 360 feels more comfortable than the 330's I used to own. Subtly different tone as well.
It sounds a bit more solid compared to the 330. IMHO, all these people wanting semi-hollow Stratocasters should check out a stock 360; might be pleasantly surprised. Gotta go; my 360 beckons Image

Larry
PS: Shreve Audio has one FG 330 (6) left. Flamey on the back, but no the front. Hmmph!
