UK Refinish....

My 02/4003 midnight blue is in a bit of state - the usual from what i can gather, a few chips and seriously yellowed binding.

Anyway because it is what it is, I want to get a professional (and preferably rick specialist) to do the refin, and the only professionals i could find are at http://www.ricsrus.com

I got in touch with them and they quoted £400 for the complete job - which seemed pretty reasonable to me, IF they do a good job.

So i was just wondering if anybody else had dealt with them?

And if anyone call help me out with what colours suit black binding (other then white!) i'd appreciate it Image

Oh and if anyone knows of a black/chrome TRC - i think i've seen them on the 4004 - going spare, shout my way!

Cheers guys.

I buy stuff (strings etc) from them - they are always good to deal with. Just how good their refurbs are I don't know ... I'll check with my tutor tonight (I'm pretty sure he has had refurbs done by them)

I'd go with either black (black-on-black, better known here as Jetglo/BT) or Burgundy - very classy with black binding and hardware. A third choice would be to just strip it to Mapleglo, and you don't need Ric specialists to do that.

What I don't understand is "serious yellowing" of black binding - how is that possible?

Silver is always nice with black binding, as is desert gold...

Cheers Bob, any info greatly appreciated!

Yeah i forgot to mention that the binding on it at moment is white! Your not going to tell me something horrendous like it cant be painted over or something or you?

I fancy the change because, as you say it's impossible for black binding to yellow - and i think it looks pretty cool

I've seen some of the burgundy pics on this forum and i've gotta say I love it - i'd love to actually see one with the black binding (hint to any owners out there Image )

Silver's a nice idea too, it would have to have quite a matt finish though because i really don't like the kind of glitter effect on finishes like the silver/mid blu/gold.

Dunno why I bought one really lol

Thanks for the input guys

Danny ...
Had a chat with my tutor last night - he rates these people highly. He advises you give Mike Smith a ring on 0121 533 0005 to discuss

About time somebody had Burgundy with black binding.

Seldom see that. ;)

Purple's also a good one.
