Badass Bridge - 4003 Question

Hi Everyone,
I just bought a 4003 (Jetglo) and I'm thinking of putting a LQ BadAss bridge on it, as some others on the forum have. Is there a specific model that'll fit a 4003? I'd REALLY rather not add unnecessary screw holes if I don't have to. Anyone else have this experience? Any advice?

Why the BadAss? Isn't the Hipshot much better? Fits without new screw holes.

the Leo Quan can be made to fit but you will have to drill holes and maybe remove wood and it doesn't cover the routed holes for the ric tailpiece ... other than that it works fine ...

I like the looks of that Hipshot bridge. Does it offer any sonic differences over the stock model?

I had a 4003 with a BadAss bridge for awhile. I really did not like it as much as the original bridge, i guess because it looked funny. If I was going to get a replacement bridge it would be that Hipshot pictured at the top. That way it is not an irreversible mod.

As busy as I know RIC is these days, I'd still like to see John Hall's version of the replacement bridge he has in mind.

Yean, I remember John Hall saying that that springs in the bridge can affect the tone. It would be interesting to see a RIC replacement bridge.

I also put a Bad *** on my 4001. Actually it was a Bad *** II, the flatter one for Fenders. After that I replaced it with a Scaller.
The thing is that Ric routs a small cavity under the tailpiece to make the bridge lower, since the bass had no neck angle. I filled this in on mine with a matching piece of maple.
You do end with up many new holes, as can be seen by my bass with the bridge removed in this pic. I probably moved the bridge a few times, which accounts for the multiple holes!
I'm going to either put the stock bridge/tailpiece back on, or get a hip shot.

Actually it's burgundy metal flake.
It's a lot more purple looking in person.
It's the flake that's making it look pink. This color was supposed to be sprayed over a silver base, but I like seeing the wood through it.
