Finish Repair To Model 4003

Post by admin »

Mark: I have a small abrasion on the bottom edge of my 4003 near of mono output jack. This does not bother me at all cosmetically but I am wondering if I am asking for trouble by not sealing the finish which has been worn through to the maple. The rest of the instrument is fine and the worn section has not adversely affected the surrounding areas as far as I can tell. Would you recommend leaving it alone or sealing it?
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I'd do the Cyano-acrylate touch up on it.

Just a little 'thick goo'will do it.Don't use the water thin stuff...you'll make a big mess and it doesn't fill as well .

Don't use kicker...it foams the glue and it won't be as hard.

To level the glue ...take a single edged razor blade or a utility knife blade and put two pieces of masking tape around the sharp edge of the blade leaving 1/3rd of the blade edge exposed in the center.
The tape lifts the blade off the surface of the finish and allows the rest of the blade to be used to scrape away the excess glue. When it's level, change to really fine sand paper and polish.

Take your time .Let the glue harden totally ,don't rush it.
So you too want yours "ALAPWOB"?!?!
