New case...TRC doesn't say "Model 4001"...

Not sure about the veracity of this being a 70's model.

What could people hope to gain by stringing their Ricks like this? I see it a lot. Does it "look cool" or something?!

It looks like it might be a 86,4003 its got the fatter horns typical for 80s early 90s,and the case is not 29 inches longer then the bass,as for the strap, thats to die for.

I thought 96 also as I posted early in this thread, they didn't use those cases at least until the early 90's I'm pretty sure. It's also got the ribbed pickups which weren't around again until sometime in the 90's, not sure of the year. The basses horns were the same from about the mid- late 70's until the late 90's so you can't go by that. I have never seen a 6' 2" case in my life unless it was an upright case.

Hmmmm...a 6'2" case could double as a canoe if you got into a bind. I think I should bid on it!

I agree on the pickup bars beginning in the '90s. I have a couple '87s and an '88 that don't have the bars. I have a '94 that does have bars.

You guys are probably right i just wasn't sure when in the 90s they changed the shape of the 4003 to resemble todays, now we know 97. And Jeff definitely a nice canoe if you find yourself up a creek.
