I've been searching the forum (Nice place, by the way!) and I haven't been able to locate any recommended specs concerning pickup heights on a 4003 bass. I found several of Mr. Arnquist's posts regarding setup and his use of a strobe tuner, but I don't have one...just an engineer's ruler.

Okay...what is your 4003's pickup height spec? Or does everyone go with 1/8 inch?

I think it depends mostly on your playing technique. If you play really hard you probably want more space so that the strings don't bang into the pickups.
