i'm not sure if some of you can see this picture or not as it is from myspace.com, but for those of you that can...what kind of Ric is this? Though i don't know my Rics as well as some of you my first guess was a 4003S

It looks like a V-63 with the horseshoes removed (or maybe the whole treble pickup swapped). If it was a 4003, it would have the one-inch spacing between the neck pickup and fingerboard.

4001v63 - the pickups (horseshoe and 1/2 inch spacing) as well as the shape of the upper horn.

Plus the p/g reaches the treble surround.

He's deshoed a horseshoe!

Wah!

Or he's done the sensible thing and gone with a whole replacement hi-gain.

Nontheless, his bass - and a nice one at that, lovely FG v63!

Actually de-shoeing a v63 is not a bad idea,v63s have a hot pickup,as i understand hotter then a high gain.

I would say so. I popped a horeshoe reissue into my '73 and it sounded terrible; totally off-balance with the toaster.

I think the RIHS sounds great with the original toaster on my '73!
