I have a '74 360 that needs tuners (2 have the internal collar corroded/broken). These are the ones with slightly longer than normal key shafts that were set waaaayyy in from the edge of the headstock. I contacted Grover and found that the #104's were discontinued in the mid-to-late '70's. They graciously sent me the current catalog, but it appeared that there were no exact dimensional substitutes there...
Any recommendations on non-invasive substitutes that are currently available? I would prefer to not add screw holes to the headstock, but this is a working axe and not a collector, so form follows function. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Joe; are these Grovers ones that have a gearbox that is similar to the Rotomatic[as found on 60s and 70s Martins?] You should check with some local guitar repair shops and ask the repairman
if he keeps a box of used tuners and related parts. You may well find what you need that way. Give this a shot.Good luck...

Thanks for the suggestion, Don; You are correct about the "family" resemblance of the tuners. I have had my fists in many spare/leftover tuner boxes in the last year or so, and have seen almost every Grover extant - except the Ricky type. These seem to be reeeeaallly oddball tuners simply because of the shaft length. Whether they were semi-proprietary for Rick...who knows. Oh, well...I'll hunt a bit more. Imay end up with another variety of Grovers with the Gretsch-y Imperial buttons or the Gibson-y tulip ones...Arrrghh - sacrilege!
