This is the '88 v63 I just got off the 'bay recently....the Horsey was shot, so tonight I put in a new Lindy Fralin treble p/u that I'd purchased a couple of months ago. It is magnetized and shaped like equine footwear and the sound is unbelievably good!!
It's got all the mojo I'LL ever need, I don't have to worry about getting it banged up, that's for sure....
Here is a link to the original auction. I can't downsize the pics enough without distorting them too much.

Jared...just waiting to hear from you fella! Are they ready? How much, etc....?
I wanna put your "shoes" on my '72 project....
...and don't worry, Brian.....I won't let this V get away....it is the perfect "player"....I used it tonight! New TI flats, the equine p/u , a VERY strong bass toaster p/u, mojo.....she's HEAVY, too! I LOVE it!
Don't get me wrong...it's no 4005, but then again, what is?

Jeff, yep....he's done a fine job with 'em too!! You can actually see the thin magnetic center on each "C". They are a bit flexible and have the correct "bend".....and they sound great!!

I don't understand the bit about the "thin magnetic center on each "C".
The real RIC shoes I have seen are solid and magnetized throughout.

Ok guys.....everything is FINE on the home front!
Jeff, I miss ALL 4 of the v63's that I've had the pleasure of owning.....they are GREAT instruments. But NOW I have one that I don't have to worry about dinging....all the others were more or less in excellent shape and made me paranoid whenever I let someone else play it or just getting the things in and out of their cases!! Now don't get me wrong.....I'm not gonna go out and "El-Kabonnnng" every Tom , Dick and Harry I run across.....but it's nice to know that I COULD....

The magnets look very similar to the hors***** but when looking down the neck at the edge of them, they look like a triple ply pickguard.....chrome/magnet/chrome

Can't speak for the other models, but the V63 I own sure has THE SOUND I expected from a Rickenbacker bass.
BTW, we used it at our IPO show, so for 1/2 the set we had a 4001 and a 660/12 up there. No pics, dang it.

Chris-
still waiting on the weather. Wind + rain =
Didn't buy the inverter after all. But have a spoolgun on my MIG set-up. Not as pretty (you can't really see the weld anyway) but much easier/faster than the TIG.
What's it been, 10 months already?
