I've been listening to this superb guitarist lately. I know Al worked with Gibson in the 30s, but was curious if he ever utilised a Rickenbacker steel/hawaiian guitar.

Any jazz/exotica/lounge fans here able to answer this one?

Rey was a great talent.

Yes. There is a pic of him in the R. Smith Rickenbacker book. I believe showed him and Forrest White holding the Frying P

On a funny note, on the '60s Batman TV Series, there was mention of an "Alvino Rey Gun" on one of the episodes. I'm not kidding. LOL

I was listening to Rey today thinking 'that sounds awfully Ric-y', ignorant of steel guitar as I am.

Is this the same guy who played with The King Sisters and on The King Family TV show -- or am I losing my mind? (not mutually exclusive)
