I haven't used the Third Hand, but I have a Shubb partial capo. It is fun to experiment with, but I found that the flexibility it provides is offset by having to essentially relearn a lot of fingering. For someone who employs a lot of open tunings, it might be worth the effort.

While on the subject of capos, one that I just received as a gift that really lives up to its hype is: http://www.g7th.com

Richard Thompson's comment that it looks like a "bottle-opener on a Porsche" is dead on.

Sounds great, Steve, but if you go to the website it appears they don't ship to the U.S., or I'm missing something.

A quick Google search turned up this retailer:

The G7 also works great on a 370-12.

The partial capos are indeed very handy for some open tuning stuff...
