The .0047 cap in factory applications....

Guys: It is my understanding that older Rickenbackers have a .0047 cap in the factory wiring, and then at one point they stopped using them. In later years many people that visit this forum have asked about fitting these caps onto guitars that don't have them. I understand what its function is.
My question is this: What is the chronology for Rickenbacker using the caps in the factory wiring, and about when did they stop?? The eighties?? Or, did they ever use the cap in a factory application?
