When I lived in Kansas City, there was a new fireglo 4005 hanging on the wall at Big Dudes Music City for a couple years. That was around 1980 or so. When I had my '66 4005 and wanted to trade it in, no one would take it at any price. It's funney how tastes change.

Even though it's in great condition that's probably the most ordinary looking example I've seen. It does very little for me compared to the 60's examples with the MOP and toasters. They look a class apart imo...

If I had the money I'd pick it up without hesitation. Great condition, great Jetglo finish, cool looks, and, I'm sure, much more reliable than one made in the '60s. Grab it, someone.

I like the looks of the 4003 and 4001 better, but I'm curious as to what the 4005 sounds like.(darker, more cavern-like?)

They sound just like a Rickenbacker should! Mine can go from Squire/Lee to Jaco to dub to just about anything I want, depending on what kind of strings I have on it.

The price for this one however is just a bit out of line, I think!!!

Nah, I'll bet that goes high, that thing's in almost mint shape, if I had extra bucks right now I'd bid.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm......'79, high-gains, almost perfect.....

This would make a nice gigging 4005.....

$5100.00 or less will get it. Image

I'm only thinking about it......

If I didn't have the burden of owning two of these things.... ;^)
