This may be absurd ...

As mentioned in another post, I've been acoustic a long time. Dylan, Lightfoot, Prine, DOc Watson, a little bluegrass and celtic stuff.

When I was a wee lad I received a transistor radio for Christmas. I'd go to sleep listening to WSAI AM with my transistor under my pillow. I can still hear that transistor sometimes as night.

Anyway, I've always loved the sound of the Byrds, Beatles, etc.

So my absurd question is, while I lean toward more folk music and not country, is there such a thing as a "jangle country band"?

just wondering ... thanks

Mount Vernon and Fairway, eh, Ambrose?

You have just invented the jangle country band, and I've just given it a name.

Good luck on your first album.

One that comes close to that description is Marty Stuart's band. Well, the one I saw in 2000 or 2001 anyway. Marty and his lead guitarist played Teles, and that created plenty of jangle. As well as flat-out rocking. For one tune, they even used a Ric 12-string.

How about Mary Chapin Carpenter? She has several Rics that she plays--including a gorgeous Blueburst 620 12-string!

i gotta use my first post to chime in on the "jangle country band" thing... so far, there's no mention of The Mavericks!

lotsa ricky jangling there... "what a crying shame" and "here comes the rain" are highlights!

and i'd be a right hoser if i didn't mention canada's own Blue Rodeo! listen for the jangle on "'til i am myself again" yum!

cheers.

MAVERICKS! Jangling indeed.

BLUE RODEO could be counted as well...

Now I glance up at Rich's post. Ha, he beat me by
half a day!
