New headstock design

Has anyone tried a RIC with this configuration yet? If so what are your thoughts as far as weight/balance, tone improvement or degradation, etc.?

I stopped by Sam Ash to pick up some strings today and they had a REALLY nice 360/12MG in a glass display case which they would not open in order for me to try the guitar(???)! For such a small change, the updated headstock is a major aesthetic improvement IMHO. I already have a 660/12 but I like the new headstock so much I'm now mulling over purchasing a 340/12 or a 370/12 in the forthcoming year.

This was 1st done in the mid-60's, it was thought to be unnecessary at that time, another production step and not quite as strong of a peg head since the extra maple was being removed. In 1974 I built the next one for my self and it proved to be very strong and a bit head stock lighter. The big advantage is the restringing of you guitar. You'll really appreciate this model if you're one who changes strings frequently.

Does anyone know...are ALL the new 3xx/12's being built with the new headstock design? I hope so, as I will have a 360/12 on order and I'd sure like to see the new headstock on it.

John Hall said in a previous thread that the new style was being phased in, so I suppose it would matter when your guitar was being ordered/built.

The Sam Ash instrument proves that they're beginning to show up.

Dziekuje, JJ-ski. I noticed that POTR has a Jetglo 360/12 with the new design. That is encouraging, as Chris must have ordered that quite awhile ago. I figure if I'm ordering now, it should probably be one with the new headstock.
I'd cross my fingers but then I couldn't play very well.

Only the 300 Series and 620/12's have the new headstock.

So yes, your 360 will have the new one.

Why not the 660s? We wider-neck lovers gotta restring, too!

Yeah - my understanding was that all of the non V- or C-series 12-string models would ultimately have the new headstock. No?

None of the C or V 12s will have the new headstock design is what I've read.

Putting the new head stock on the vintage series would defeat the purpose of keeping the guitars true to their original form. Their web site says the new stocks would be placed on all of their standard 12's, excluding vintage reissue models. I would think a standard 12 would include the 660's?

Maybe you need to think of a 660 as a 620V** with a wider neck. It has checkerboard binding, 21 frets, full width fret markers, and toasters. Just a thought.

I know I own one.

It is a good question though. The 660/12 is not a C- or V-series. Why then isn't the new headstock design being adopted for that model?

What Ken said.
