Hi. I was wondering about the switches used on rickenbacker 4003s. If they have 2 input lugs and two output lugs, how can you tell which one is which? I have one that I got not connected to anything.

You should look at one of these .These are the industry standard switch ... and they are copied by nearly every off shore brand .
Switchcraft is THE switch .
This switch has two types , they are identical in every way , except that the Rick version uses a longer shaft for the 'bat' .This is the thing you see on the outside of any Rick . It has a black knob on it .
The inside section is this .......
The shaft of the bat has a black or white nylon cap on it and that seperates the fins .
The fins are divided into two types ;
The ones that touch this bat and two that only make connections with the bat fins .
The two that touch the bat are the hook ups for each pickup .
the other two are the 'outs' that go to the controls .
You have 'ins' and you have 'outs' .
It is an extremely simple switch .
