I finally got a legit 2nd chance offer from the guy but with my second thoughts, I'm not sure what to offer him. That routing by the neck concerns me.

Best to ask one of the 4005 guys,how this might efect neck stability its a hollowbody so maybe not at all,i dont know how they are constructed.

My 4005WB has no routing there at all, the neck toaster has short magnets.

Hey Marc, Just my 2 cents worth, the '66' 4005 I bought this year has some routing for a P Bass Pickup. I don't think the routing on my bass my be as deep as the one on this bass, also it is farther down below the original toaster route, but my bass is fine no issues with the neck or anything else. Plays and sounds wonderful.

I think it would have taken a lot of work to get it back to stock where that big humbucker was though.
