I have an s8 and it is quite interesting, to say the least. Everyone who plays it refers to the sound as "thunderous". I'm using it on a few songs in my band such as "Clocks" from Coldplay.
BTW, "Money" sounds cool on an s8.

Over at the RIC forum, John Hall himself made the following comment:
"Its always been our intention to make an 8-stringer in this series, and at some appropriate point, we'll likely do so."
Now, when that appropriate point is, we can only wonder. But thats OK with me, It'l give me more time to save money.

Nice bass Jeff.
A 4004CII5 10 stringer.....that would be nicer!

My s8 is the only 4003 series I kept after my recent 4004 infatuation. It simply sounds HUGE!
I use it for about 1/3 of a gigging night but I don't practice much with it for some reason.
If a 4004Cii/8 ever sees the light of day I'll certainly get at least one....
