There are two more songs from Paul's new CD on his website, "Jenny Wren" and "Promise To You Girl." There's also a video for "Fine Line," showing Macca playing his Hofner -- thumb and fingers, no pick -- guitar, piano and drums. I'll withhold judgment on the new tracks.

To me, this is quality work all around. When I saw Paul in 2002 & 2003 people pretty much sat down and didn't cheer or sing along with the Driving Rain material he played. DR stuff got a fairly cool reception at the shows and in record sales. I think this is more universally appealing, more true to his own musical values, and just sounds bloody good overall. I REALLY like Fine Line. The other songs are good too and I can't wait to hear the entire record in full fidelity. It's good material and I think it will be a very strong showing for Paul.

I’m not excited about this album so far at all – I’ actually very disappointed. To me DR was much better. I agree with your assessment of how DR was received during his last US tour, Rumbush, however I think people will be going to get refreshments this time around.

I like to video to Fine Line and I’m just warming-up to the song itself.

There has never, and I mean never, been a McCartney album that I had to warm-up to - Pipes of Peace included – although it wouldn’t bother me if I never heard that album again…

I’m hoping that the rest of the material on this new CD is stronger.

I’m OK with McCartney playing all the instruments on it with the exception of the drums. He should have left that job to Abe.

BTW, I was one of those few who did "warm up" to the unexpected production on Driving Rain. I couldn't see anyone else at those shows, at least in our section which was 3rd row floor in front, who knew the songs & believe me I looked around to see who was getting into it. One would figure that tickets that expensive are held by the hardcore fans and as such that those fans would know the music. Guess not!

Run Devil Run on the other hand was very easy to get into. Flaming Pie, coming off the Anthology, also has some shining moments (Souvenir, Heaven on a Sunday, Beautiful Night most notably imho).

Interesting take Andy! I can't remember anyone else ever saying Paul is boring but I'm not sure I agree that this record will be worse (?) than Pipes of Peace.

I guess we'll just see how the record is on the whole. Some people have compared it to Ram and McCartney II (don't see how considering those two records were miles apart production-wise) so who knows...

Out of the 4 songs I have heard so far, Fine Line is by far the best of them. The others have no hint of that McCartney melody that I am used to.
The producer of this record says he wanted McCartney to sound like McCartney; I don't think he succeeded.Big disappointment so far. Hopefully, these are the weakest tracks on the album. Jenny Wren, the daughter of Blackbird as Paul has said? Not even close. Some crack-head on another Macca site said that Jenny Wren was a much better song than Wanderlust. It doesn't have one ounce the melody that Wanderlust has.

I have never been taken by McCartney's recordings when he plays all of the intstruments.

McCartney's the name over indulgence is the game.

Open note to Paul for your pinboard: Don't always hog the limelight. Let someone else at least make scale for playing on your album. Besides I like the musicians you seem to attract

Paul did the "All Paul" thing on the "Comin' Up" video also. I liked the "Hey Ya" multiple use of band members footage better myself. Foo Fighters also did something in which they played the crew and passengers of an airplane. I guess if I had video equipment and money to burn, I'd do the same thing. No one would watch it, but ...

He could have changed clothes! At least the Coming Up video had character. I still like the song though
