Just picked up this amp. I'm looking for any info on it.Here's what i do know,tubes are two 47's,one 80, and one 53. 10 inch speaker with ser# C940 on back of speaker. Speaker code 101200.All metal cabinet with black crackle paint. Back panel has two inputs, on/off switch, and glass style fuse with screw in cap.Top of amp has Rickenbacher / Los Angeles metal logo.
I did find one article in Vintage Guitar magazine on line which leads me to believe it is a Style 4. Any info would be great. This seems to be a very rare amp as i could not find one picture of anything like it on line at all.Any idea on value or rarity would be cool.thanks in advance!!

Thanks. That VGM article has more info on prewar Rick amps than I knew existed. They are fairly rare in good condition. The collectors of these are fairly few and far between. I haven't followd prices closely, but the range I seem to remember on Ebay lately is $150-350, but I'm not absolutely sure. My black box s/n is C1827. The speaker # is 101200A.

Glad you enjoyed the article in VGM.Thanks for the reply.It's funny but after i posted i then looked at the other posts and came across yours..Have your got your "black box" up and
running and if so what does it sound like. Mine has a badly frayed power cord so i can't power it up.Maybe it's best to leave it original.I may repair it if i get around to it and its worth it,sound wise.Either way it's cool to look at and you can never have too many amps(IMHO).

The one I have is in nearly pristine condition, but one of the tubes was broken when it arrived several years ago. I never got around to replacing the tube. But like you said, "it's cool to look at". Mine is hanging on the wall below my collection of Rick lap steels. I don't think you would be very happy with the sound except for blues.
