When I first mail my warranty card, do I have to send my sales receipt as a proof of purchase too, or is it just when/if I ship my instrument????

in other words, can I mail the card alone (`cause there the adress and the "place a stamp here on the back")?

From my experience... They just want the card, but they really want the card. If they don't get the card, you have no warranty.
Put it in an envelope and mail it. Oh and keep that sales receipt too. You may need that too.
The good thing is though, I've owned over 20 different ricks, new and used, only one ever needed warranty work... and they claimed they never got the card for that one.

I must admit that I've never bothered mailing in a warranty card to RIC. The three new Ricks I've purchased since 1989 have been perfect in every way and have never needed any repairs, so it hasn't been an issue. Several of my 1960's Ricks have had neck issues, but everything built from the late 1970's to the present seem very sturdy and show no signs of future trouble. I actually prefer these newer guitars for their improved structure.

Karl, just mail the warranty within 10 days of purchase, no need for anything else. The warranty, except finish, is good for five years, finish for one.
But like Randy said, you likely won't ever need it, but better safe than you know. I never have.
BTW, the warranty is good from the date of manufacture, not sales date.

Make a copy of the card, and mail the original to us, preferably using a tracked service. Keep your receipt along with the card copy and your half of the card for your future reference.

At least you read the warranty, Karl. I guess it was just the 'place stamp here' part that threw you.
