Anyone got a line on one at a reasonable price?

I'll take a sunburst but, would love white. Anything but natural.

I believe Mandolin Bros. here on Staten Island has a '66 in Olympic White, Tortoise guard. Pretty mint, I recall. Close but no cigar, eh? http://www.mandoweb.com
, call the store, they don't list all the inventory on the site.

Really nice bass. If it was a 64, even for more I would grab it.Still interesting. I'll have to take a ride over there after the weekend.

I've played this bass a bunch of times, it's definitley the real deal.

You live in the NYC area?

Marc - I have had a 64 P bass and they are fabulous in every way. Take a sunburst -- you'll have to sell your spleen for a custom color!

John, I'm up in Westchester but, a ride to SI is not out of the question.

Mike - a sunburst 64 is fine.

This one is a 65 with an L serial number. Some still consider these to be pre-CBS. I like this bass

It's probably real but for some reason the sunburst looks more like a 70's finish to me.

I almost bought a 65 with an A neck with original ashtrays with the old dried up foam and everything, played great and sounded great, definitely had some honest wear on it, I went out to think about and called a few hours later, gone. $2500.00, what an idiot. I don't like the C necks and most of the pre CBS P basses have them.

Here you go Marc:

I saw that. Greg Lake's a fine bass player but, I still wouldn't over pay to own one of his refins.

Guitar Crazy down under has a 63 for around $8399. Seems a bit high as I can get a 61(which is what I really want) at CME for $8K (more than I want to spend)

Just curious if anyone on here has delt with Chicago Music Exchange. I'm trying to talk myself into that 61 if he's negotiable on price.

I think high book on it is $6500. That's what I was thinking. I wouldn't lose it over a couple hundred though. First thing I need to know if it's all original, sound and playability, case info and any history.

Any help is appreciated Mike. Thanks!

I'll get in touch with him, Marc! Let's see what he'll do. I love my '61 Precision! It's near the top of my favorites.

Marc - Call his store on Tuesday. He called me from his vacation. I think you will be able to work out something with him. Good luck! Looks like a nice bass!

Mike, my personal thanks. I spoke with Scott and he worked something out that was VERY fair. I should have the bass early next week. It pays to have friends on these boards.
