MEET THE FAMILY!

The '81 320 is nearly done. It's been refinished in antiqued Autumnglo, and somehow I've been possessed by the spirit of the late '50s, at least in appearances...

(I know it's not a full 2" thick, and it's not alder, and hi-gains didn't exist then, but bear with me, huh?)

It looks the way I like, and it will sound different from my other toaster-equipped Rickenbackers. I like the look of the big-single-level-pickguards on the early 325s, and a pinned Kaufmann looks just right and won't go out of tune. The TRC is one of my engraved ones, and the knobs are something I had laying around from a Tele project. Butterscotch switch tip wraps the look up. Next, a special rewire to take advantage of 3 pickups and two pots and still give infinite flexibility.

It's also got some new Kluson Deluxes on it, and the old Schaller holes have been filled to near invisibility.

So then I did a family shot with the 381, the 660/12, the ES-16 and the 325:

And then, totally in gear now, I tossed in four different Gretsches and my CAR CIJ Fender Jaguar with vintage pickups.

WOW, Paul... that is REALLY nice. I would probably have made the RIc name stand out a bit more by blackening the tops of the raised letters, but wow, that "autumglo" is really nice and gold plastic was the way to go. Black would have worked also (maybe) but white would have ruined it.

Thank you all for your compliments.

The letters are not raised, but are engraved into the back of the clear acrylic TRC. All 3 of my Ricks have the same treatment, but the darker gold on the other ones makes them stand out a bit better.

Ah, so you moved the Kaufmann off the 381 to the 320. Nice.

Your 320 looks right at home with the rest of its lovely family!

Yup. Gotta nuther one?

I wanted to try the Kaufmann for that vintage look and it really works here. But I also have a B50 and a bowtie setup, though I hate to drill holes in the top!

For about ten seconds I pondered trying the Bigsby on the 381.

Yup. Nuts.
