There is an (almost) full-page picture of Roger (and his RIC) in the current issue of PEOPLE magazine (the one with Julia Robert's "secret" wedding on the cover and the top-bar about Valerie and Eddie being separated). The piece is on "aging" rockers. Ol' Rog looks pretty good for 60. Of course, they used the "younger than yesterday" tag line someplace in the blurb that went along with the picture.

July 13th was Roger's 60th Birthday. Wonder how many friday the 13th birthdays he has had? Haha! That doesn't seem to have had any effect on him. I'll definitely have to check out Roger's picture in the recent People magazine! That's great that he's getting some respect.

I'm not sure the intent of the article was "respect" per se. The article is "about" aging rockers. Carol King is included as is Peter Tork.

Does anyone know if Roger has ever read and/or posted on the forum here?

Mr. Phelps: I can not say whether or not he has read this Forum, however, I am reasonably certain that he has never posted here. Prior to the formal registration process he may have been able to post anonymously, but I have no reason to believe that he did so. By the way, it is not because I haven't encouraged him - on more than one occasion!

Maybe it's just because he doesn't want a bunch of people asking him too many questions he may not want to answer. In person, he seems to display a cool sense of detachment, still somewhat friendly, but not overly so. I'm sure it is an effect of being somewhat recognizeable. I guess it would be difficult sometimes, to have people asking you the same questions over and over about recordings you made nearly thirty years ago. Still, it's amazing how down-to-earth and reachable he is at times. I guess after being "Eight Miles High", you have to touch down at some point and communicate with other earthlings who appreciate your stuff. I'm sure he's reasonably aware that there are enclaves of people, like us, who really appreciate his musical contributions, and would like to hear as much from him as he decides to share with us.

I'd gotten the impression that he USED to frequent the net boards and got into a flamefest or something some time ago and basically said the hell with it.

It's ****** how some people will act on the internet. Some people just come on to aggitate good people and cause trouble. It's sad. The instigators in that kind of **** are probably the type of people who don't have the guts to say what they feel in real life. They sit down at their computers and suddenly think they can build themselves up by putting other people down. It's a shame that these people end up scaring away the interesting people who might otherwise take the time to communicate with us.
