God that is a beautiful bass... 72's are my fave.

My Burgundy 72' went to $2045 with upgraded tuners.

This gal will go for $2400 - bet ya.

The bridge on it is not period-correct though.

That's about the only thing wrong with it. Real nice. Over $2500 possibly...

I'm very short of money at the moment, but I still offered 2K before the first bid was made. No deal though... )-:

Is that the original treble pickup surround? The ones that I've seen from this period tend to be a little bit more squarish.

Oh. Wait a minute...those knobs aren't original...I don't want it anymore!

Not sure about this one, but wouldnt the nut have been white ?

Hmm... Upon closer inspection, neither the treble pickup on that 4001 is original to it. The same goes probably for the pickup surround, which has a most unusual full-length string 'recess' or cut-out.

Well, that's not a 1972 handrest for sure. Look closer. The TRC looks funny, too.

Good eye again, Sergio! It looked to me as if the edge of the cut-out was a little "wavy" or rough, but I thought it might just be an optical illusion. Something looked wrong about it, but now that you mention it...it is that full-length string cut-out.
