Wow, it is nice...steep price though. It annoys me when they can't even get the description correct. Humbuckers???

Creep eh, Gcrep always double the price, so this should be worth max $2400!

That bridge pickup surround looks like one off of a lap steel. In fact, since horseshoes were not being used on '69's, I'd say the pickup probably came off of the same lap steel.

Nope...20 frets. I counted them 5 times. The 21st fret would have to be on the very end of the fingerboard and RIC didn't do them that way.

I believe this bass has been discussed before, it's been for sale for some time I think. Anyone else remember?

Ken, are you thinking it had a BadAss bridge mod done to it?

The finish looks like it has been touched up around the bridge assembly. Four grand? Hmm... I think I'll pass.

Theirs a polepiece right in the center of the horseshoe split, I'd say lapsteel for sure.

Definate touch up around the bridge.

Sergio would be the man on this one.

Good memory John...This bass came up last year as a factory black finish over the fireglo. We debated it here and the lap steel surround and bobbin/horseshoes.

It sold for about $2300 if I remember correctly. 20 frets too. Only 70 and 71 basses have 21 frets it seems.

An easier (than counting?) way to tell a 21 fretter is that the tailpiece is about a 1/2" or 3/4" away from the bottom edge of the bass. It has a slightly longer neck to accommodate the extra fret, but the scale didn't change, so the tailpiece (with the bridge) was moved "up."

Question is, that bridge, would that be the original bridge replaced while reversing the mod? Or is it period correct? Either way I haven't seen a 69 for less than 5K.

The pickup does look like a lap steel after closer inspection. Although I've never had a bass pickup used in the original horseshoes so I'm not familiar with what the pole pieces would look like.

All right, you talked me out of it. A refin with a filled in route, non original horseshoe will have to stay with GCREP a little while longer.
