I was just going to post about it. I'll call Jim Rhodes, if he didn't order my bass I'm going to grab it.

Thanks for keeping an eye out!

What does a new one go for?

The one on order from Jim was $1989. Music123 and Sam Ash are around $2300-2400. There's a couple of smaller dealers also around 2K-$2200.

I put a bid in hoping to get it for less than $2100.

Forgot to add none of these dealers has one in stock, although some are due to ship shortly.

This one on Ebay is a 2003. Anyone know the first year of production on these?

Marc, look under the "for sale" section - 4001C64S - this one is also a 2003.

Where's the horseshoe?

I think it does. Just hard to tell from those photo angles. I e-mailed the seller just to be sure.

Paul McCartney replaced the horseshoe with an understring...

Maybe it`s because of that... Do every C64 comes with a horseshoe?

Karl, yes, C64S's come with a horseshoe, in a smaller surround (like current 4003's). The C64 (non-S) has a larger surround, like on a V63.

I looked at the auction pics again with Photoshop, it seems that there are horseshoes there, like Marc said.

Yes, but I'm still concerned that I don't see the split in the tailpiece.

There wasn't a split in the tailpiece on the mecca model-because at this point in its life the bass has already gone back to Ric for the New style tailpiece and the replaced high gain, thats why its got the regular surround,so the shoes are sort of just stuck on for whatever, actually if you look at the Ram album the shoes are there.sort of a mesh of years. The S [Mecca] model you get the newer tailpiece,o fret, high gain surround, rounded sand job, sealed body[no shinny finish]

Tnanks Ken for pointing that out. I guess what throws me off is North Coast Music's picture shows no zero fret, but it looks like the bass has a sanded horn and a split tailpiece.

That might be an early one or a late one neither are wrong technically,I had one on lay away about two years ago, they sound and play wonderfully, the finish [no finish] is to die for.your going to love it.I was dumb i had a great deal and backed out.
