Help-620 intonation screw access

I recently bought a new 620 to go w/ my '82 360WB.
The "R" tailpiece on the 620 is very close to the bridge. In fact it is so close to the bridge that I can't get the allen wrench into the screws for strings 1 thru 3.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

This is a design flaw that has never been corrected . It is fairly easy to 'fix' .
The 'R' tailiece MUST be removed and the vintage tailpiece installed .
Then and only then will you have a 'stock' looking guitar that functions .
There is NO wrench ,driver or tool made to adjust the bridge with the "R" in place .
I use the Peterson Strobe to find out how many cents off the saddles are , then loosen the strings and guesstimate the distance they all neeed to move .This is also based on placement math and general bridge location math .
It is indeed agravating that this still is being made this way .

What Can be done is this:[necessity is the mother of invention here]I assume the allen wrench you tried to use is the std. 3" longX 3/4" size and shaped like the letter "L".The short part of the "L" is Still too long to access the hex nut/length screw in it's stock condition. You could shorten the short part of the "L" to, say, half it's current length, using a hacksaw. Then carefully use a mill ******* file to "square up" the end that was cut.If you've done this right, this should make the wrench fit now.

Thanks for the ideas. I thought this might be the case, and was already considering bastardizing an allen wrench. If that doesn't work, I'll definitely look into the vintage tailpiece.
Thanks again.
Also, this 620 came w/ toasters mounted on the foam pads. Any suggestions on how to raise the bridge pickup higher?

Don's idea will function .... but it will take forever to adjust this .... I hate doing it.
The height thing , add another pad to both of them .
