I notice the E string silk passing over the nut on that bass... does this mean that 4005's need longer than long scale strings to compensate for the 'R' tailpiece pulling the E and A strings' ballends back by an inch or two?

See with the exchange rate it's not bad (personally speaking) but I quit my job today to work on a youth music project so I won't be bidding

This 4005 is ultra-sweet. I don't know how the CME finds these vintage Ricks, but they do.

Last time I was there, one of the guys there was showing me a sweet 1969 330JG(I think...I'm not very good with the 6 string models) that a buddy of his found at a pawn shop and called him on. He gave the buddy a finders fee, and I think all included paid around $1100.00 for it. I guess I need to visit more pawn shops!

That's the one that I played when I went to the CME three weeks ago! I think that I'll check it out again next Friday when I get back to Chicago, if it's still there. Apart from a couple of nicks on the headstock, it is clean as a whistle, and sounds great acoustically.

That is one gorgeous FireGlo (mmmmMMM, my second favorite color) bass!!!! I remember the 1967 FireGlo 4005/6 they had for sale almost two years ago, I think it was....they wanted $7000 for it, and I passed it up.....wish I'd grabbed it, considering the one at southworthguitars.com is going for $12,600....

You know, if you think in terms of an investment, you could by this aaaaaaaaand the jetglo 4080 on ebay for less than $15k, hold on tight for 10 years, what would you have ????????
