My first & only FL Ric, any ideas..?

Just when I though I had done buying Rics I think I could be an important one short of collection. I really need a FL bass.

This used to be covered by my Ibanez FL and my Washburn AB20 semi that gave a very good woody string bass sound. As the only bass guitars I own have the name Rickenbacker on them I guess it would make sense to follow suit.

I need a bass that has a good woody, almost Warwick meets vintage Fender P sort of tone. I will use it with flats and for my jazz gigs.

I only own 4001’s and think that a FL one of these might not fit the bill. I am a bit lost for first hand knowledge outside of the 4001. Any suggestions?

Bob,
I got to try a 4001-FL at the SoCalCon and was very impressed withthe sound, it may be able to get to the tonal quality you're seeking.

Bass Northwest has had two Ric FL's for a while now, a Burgandy and Maple, not sure if they still do.

Thanks Jim,

Good to see the 1980- Burg with dot markers at each fret point down the fingerboard (I am not too good at fretless) When did they change to just dots at 3rd, 5th, 7th etc?

They are great Bob. I found a C/B FG 73 for sale in Brighton a couple of years ago that was in incredible condition.

I play it more than any other bass at present.

Not many in the UK for sure....
