COY resale values vs. standard glos

Hello. I've lurked here for quite a while, but this is my first time posting.
I've noticed that the resale value of Ricks is very high, but I don't recall looking at many (if any) auctions for any of the "color of the year" basses. I was wondering if they bring in as much (or more) as their counterparts in the big 3 colors.
I'd imagine it would somewhat depend on the particular color as well. I'm sure some colors were more popular than others, although that would probably make the less popular colors more rare.
Has anybody noticed if there's a big difference in what the COYs bring in compared to the others?

I think sea green basses definately sell for a premium. Desert Gold and Turquoise I'm not sure about.
One thing is for sure, you don't see many for sale.

Thanks, Sean.
I've been a big fan of Rick basses since I was a kid. I currently have a beautiful '04 MG 4003 that I'm madly in love with. I'm thinking of expanding my collection really soon.

They should fetch a premium as they are a custom colour, so to speak, and you pay more for it than a standard finish.
The Seagreen was never a big seller originally it seems. I have seen very few over the years, but they are now highly coveted with a $$$ price to match.
The Desert Gold is rare too, with few examples, but does not seem to have much of a following today still.
It is very subjective....

Thanks, Marc And Andrew.
I really had my eye on the Desert Gold back when they were new, but never got around to buying one. I really want a Blue Boy, but I'm not really in a good position to buy right now. I'm thinking I could better talk myself into it if it proved to be a pretty safe investment (not that I'd ever want to sell it).

I think BB will be coveted more than than most. The pastel colours seem to attract a following eventually....

I think the Montezuma Brown color will be eventually highly sought after as well. It was one of the better COY's that Ric came up with IMHO.

I agree with you Randy, I think Monty Brown will be very sought after. I think the Blue Burst will be also.

Maybe the COY's are a bit taken for granted when they first become available.
I definately think MB and BB are colors to be reckoned with as far as collecting value in the future.

Didn't mean to repeat that last post. My brain seems to be on vacation this weekend.
