When i received the bass,it was so beat there was checking everywhere, there were so many things wrong with it even Jim rhoads [at rhoads music] told me to part it out. With wood like that i decided to refinish it,and tackle the other stuff one at a time, remember it had that Xlr Jack.its[the bass] wired up all wrong. This was my first refine, allot of work involved next time i send it out.

Ken, 2 thumbs up on this one! It looks like a totally different bass! Great job on the re-fin, and you sure picked a nice one to bring back.

Andy,to answer your question Yes! it was the original finish,it looked ten times worse then the photos on the web site.I had to either refine it or live with it [yuck]or send it back.Redeeming quality's:the wood, the neck is straight as an arrow, plays great [with rick bridge also]sounds great, low action. If the wood wasn't so cool i would have sent it back.

Truly outstanding. A fine job, Ken. As I usually say, 'Rickenbacker magic at its strongest'. Yeah!

Wow Ken. What a great result! Your result drives me closer to having my other '72 refinned to a Burgundyglo.....

If anyone wants to refine there guitar look here www,re ranch.com,they have everything you need plus instructions of how to do it.I consulted Mike Dolan, first he guided me to re ranch, its a lot of sanding and patients, not hard ,just a lot of sanding, shooting ,sanding ,buffing....work.It still could use anther wet sand and buff, maybe later, its got 12 coats of lacquer on it.the fret board was unfinished when i got it now its finished.

Nice to see that my tailpiece/bridge has found such a great home! And so fast! Gorgeous work, Ken.

That looks a really gorgeous bass Ken. You did a great job there. As I said before, that's some of the best wood I have seen on a Ric bass from that time....or any, come to think of it.
