It's a Burgundy 4003FL. I've never played a fretless before, so this could be an interesting experience.

I'm not talking you out of anything Ric-related, Ron.

FWIW, a fretless Ric w/string mutes and tapewounds was one of the best upright-emulators I've ever heard 2nd only to a Rick Turner Renaissance).

So I guess this means I can forget the upright we discussed on the Fender Forum, Andy?

The Fretless Rics are wonderful Ron. Mine wears Chromes and has a beautiful warm sound. I rarely play my fretted basses at present.

As the Bible says: "Fret not!"

Ron, I wouldn't talk you out of it either. I love my '75 4001 FL. That one looks alot like mine, but that 4003 should have more volume from it's pickups than mine.

Ron,

If that's from Mike Parks, then that bass used to be mine. It's worth it. I needed some dough when I sold it a couple months back. If you're patient with it, it will reward you.

Thanks for the info, Mike. It's always good to know the history of a bass.

How come I don't see that on Mike Parks site?

If I get another Rick is will be a fretless for sure.
Look at it this way- you won't lose your money if you decide to hang on to it for a few years.

Wints, second the motion on the Chromes. Sound great on my fretted 4003.

Interesting that I have both a 4003FL and a Rick Turner RB4FL! Image

Thanks, guys. I knew I could count on you to help me out! Image

Paul, the bass was listed in Mike's "Incoming Ricks" section. I've learned that sometimes you need to call him up to see if something actually did arrive.

All very nice basses. But I'm a sucker for the S!
