Recently I bought the Bassdriver from SansAmp, and was amazed by the sound of it. Playing my 4003 with a pick, and the drive control half way up gave such beautifull sounds, drive some further gave me the Chris Squire tone, some further brought me to Lemmy. The precence control let you dail in the growl and bite.

Anyone out there who has one too, if not: try one in your music shop to hear for yourself.

I sold mine to Steve Cooper ... I liked it but I liked the bass pod better ...

I have a Basspod, but I like the raw sound of the sansamp. One big thing of the basspod is it's compressor wich sound marvelous - and it's overall sound is good, but I could never achieve a good overdrive sound on it - could be me of course.

I use a SansAmp Bass Driver with my rig and I love it. I use Chromes flats on my V63 and DR Lo Riders on my 4003, and the SansAmp makes both sound even better than they normally do. It adds a good tube amp type sound to my solid state rig.

I also have a SansAmp Bass Driver DI. It's the only pedal type unit that I've bought that I can honestly say that I love using.
I had a Bass Pod for a few days...nice unit, but I prefer something mauch less complicated to operate. So I brought back the POD and got a SansAmp BDDI and the Tech 21 BassCompactor to go with it...and got some cash back.
It simple, easy to use and makes even mediocre amps sound way better. It gives you excellent sound through a P.A. and for recording.
Sometimes I almost get GAS for the newer model of the POD when I read Jeff Rath's posts about it...then I remember how I almost threw the first one I had out the window when trying to figure out how to get a tone I want...then the GAS gets alleviated quickly.

my first weekend with the bass pod was very frustrating ... it took a while to understand it ... but now I can't stand playing without it ...

I will probably get the pod XT live model soon ...

I sometimes use a SansAmp bass driver. You can get some good sounds out of it in certain settings but it tends to cut the mid range a little too much for me.

Same here marc. I mainly use it with a 12-string bass.

I love mine- it really helps my rig sound warm. I couldn't imagine playing without it now.

I've got it. Love it. Served me well doing my old Motorhead tribute band.

I also use a SansAmp Bass Driver DI. It really makes my old Peavey Standard sound good.......not SVT good, but good. I've used it as a direct box several times and with good effect. I like it.

...my only complaint about the SansAmp BDDI is that mid range dip really kills the cool mwah sound of a fretless bass, makes it sound more like a fretted bass. Normally it doesn't bother me. I set my SWR with a jazz type eq setting and put the BDDI to a SVT setting. I get an awesome sound and all the notes on the fretboard are nice and clear, I don't lose any notes in most rooms with those settings. Rarely do I have to adjust the settings from those to suit a room.
I'd like to try the SansAmp Acoustic DI. According to Tech 21, it's bassically the same unit as the Bass Driver DI with a mid range control added. Bass Player mag said the Acoustic DI works great for bass also, for those looking for that midrange control.
