Does any one know when Rickenbacker plans to produce the new 8 string basses?

I imagine after they've worked out the wrinkles in the 4004CII/5 (5 string) since they've got to address neck dive concerns with the 5 first before they can worry about the 8. I have had both of the old 5 & 8 string versions of the 4003, and the 5 had no balance concern while the 8 had considerable neck dive. If the new 5 has neck dive as I believe it may, the new 8 will be far worse.

a large problem looks to be the tuning gears..by using hipshot lites, they'd eliminate some weight. Alos using guitar tuners instead of all bass size.

I don't think the tuners are the problem so much as the size of the headstock. Of course, if they would go to the smaller tuners for the octave (piccolo) strings, they could make the headstock considerably smaller. By contrast, the problem on the new five string seems to be entirely in the increased width of the neck while maintaining the same body size.
