North Coast Music has received their first two "C" guitars. There are pictures on the NCM site of both an MG and a JG. Nice!

I heard the C58's are alder and not maple. I wonder what RIC is calling the "natural" finish. I can't stop looking at that new one on NCM. What a beautiful piece of wood. Somebody is going to be very happy.

Robert: IMHO I think RIC will sell replacement parts for the C-Series, but nothing has been said officially as far as I know. There are those who are bound to modify their 325C58's with Bigsbys and other additions to make the "ultimate" Lennon 325, whatever that configuration may be...so it is likely that stuff will appear second-hand. I hope so!!!

I just talked to Dave's Guitar Shop in LaCrosse Wisconsin today.

They indicated that they too have received a C58 ("NaturalGlo" ). They said it's a beauty, but that, although it's spoken for, they have others on order which are, from what I understood, *not* pre-bought.

Rob, don't get too excited about a Vibrola. I've got a couple. Lets just say thats theres a couple of good reasons that they were discontinued "way back when"

If the 'C' series 325's are not maple, what's the point in having a 'C' series at all? I mean, wasn't the 'C' series idea to, as close as possible, replicate John Lennon's Rickenbacker as it could be had in 1958. Or is 'close enough' supposed to be okay?? I thought close enough was the 'B' series.

Anyway, the best sounding original 325 I ever played was a two-tone burst made of mahogany. What are the chances we'll see (C) anything like that? Not likely.

Tracy: John Lennon's 1958 Capri was alder and hence the change. As Lennon changed his knobs, vibrato and color at different times, it is difficult to come up with a model that is completely representative of Lennon's first Rickenbacker (at least without including a series of knobs and a couple vibratos with the case). RIC has done its best to be as precise as possible, under the circumstances, and from what I can see thus far, the 325C58 is a fine instrument.

I agree with Peter in the sense that Rickenbacker was trying to replicate The Beatles' instruments in their factory condition, hence the alder body and a back made of birch; at least that is my understanding of the wood used in Lennon's '58 325...the C-Series 325C58 is really nice...

Tracy, are you speaking of a 1958 325 when you bring up a mahogany body? Is that Larry Wassgren's 325?? I thought it was alder/birch as well. Larry, are ya out there???

The back of the 325 is a plywood. Don't know if Birch is in there but I doubt it.
