The 72' has landed!!!!

The terrible waiting has ended... I now have my mapleglo 72' 4001. All it took was a little cleaning up and she is a beauty!!
It had been interesting to compare it to my fireglo 96' 4003. Aside from the typical 72 features that I have read about... slightly different knob positioning, toaster is closer to the neck, plexiglass(?) TRC (the 96' TRC is the same material as the pickguard with raised lettering).
Photos as soon as I can borrow a digital camera. Tonight and thursday I reherse with the band for a show this saturday!!!

It's love, I can tell... Congratulations, John. As I always say, late '60s/early '70s 4001s are Rickenbacker magic at its strongest.

Yup, plexi glass... in great condition too!
Played with the band for three hours tonight and it felt great. I really need to get it some schaller strap locks though... I don't like not having them.
I must say that I really love the skunk stripe on the mapleglo!!!

Congrats on picking up Fred's old 4001, John.How does the neck compare to your 4003 ?

Aye, 72's are in a league of their own. Beautiful instruments, I've been fortunate to own a 72' BG. Delight to play, neck thin and fast.
