Sgt Pepper Costumes

I'd like to know if any other forum members have had a Sgt. Pepper costume made for them and what the costs/problems (if any) were...I've had a local seamstress quote me $1500 for one suit -- I don't know but this seems like a lot.

Any advice or recommendations of costume makers/ seamstresses would be welcome!

Check out 'The Eggmen', Karen. They have a web site and I'm pretty sure they wear reproduction costumes. Perhaps from there you could contact the band or one of the members.

They pop up on ebay too. I think there's a listing now...

I got a West Point 'plebe' dress jacket at an Army surplus store for under fifty bucks...2 decades ago, but I'm sure it wouldn't be much more than twice that now...you might have to be persistent to find the right size. Then you could start adding odd epaulets, etc...it's the perfect look. It is a uniform jacket, though, not 'stage silks'. You'll sweat your *** off...

You understand me, plebe? Now drop and give me four bars of sixteenth notes, on the double!

Actually, JJ, it appears 'Puglilly' is a 'she'...that don't matter in today's "Lonely Hearts' Club Band Of One"...

Puglilly! Quit that snickerin' and hold that guitar straight!

Hey you guys at least welcome her to the forum.

Karen, welcome. You have been indoctrinated by the curmudgeon and the resident esoteric genius of Gamelan(Balinese)music.

The Curmudgeon's Apprentice will do for me...

Hey, Karen...welcome to the Funny Farm, er, Forum. We get like this sometimes...well I do, anyway...

Yes, I am definitely a she! Thank you all for the welcome - I've been keeping up with all of the forum topics pretty regularly and sometimes post here or there in the bass section (new owner of 4001c64s). I love everyone's attitude and enthusiasm.

I have to laugh when I look at the Sgt. Pepper costumes listed on Ebay for like $49.95...the dude modeling them just makes me giggle.

Aw, Puglilly, I am sorry.

EBay is a hoot, as my old friend Van Dyke Parks has said on many an occasion about other things...

Steve,

I thoroughly enjoy the humor on this forum. I'd rather read the funny stuff here than deal with the flaming posts of other forums.

Ronn Roberts is our foremost Beatle guy in terms of what you are looking for, he plays in a tribute band called the Eggmen, who are fantastic. Might be able to point you in the right direction. And yes, most of the time here things are funny and fun, enjoy and have a good time! Image

That's way too much-I paid almost nothing to get an authentic replica of the costume William S. Burroughs wore on the cover...
