Are you aware of http://starling.rinet.ru/music/search.htm

I recently found this. They are part of Starostin's extended work on popular music. He's not utterly found of the Searchers (cat. E, which is not near the top of the ladder). But he gives essay-like reviews of both the group in general, and on each of the five pye lp's. Altogether 13 pages with engaging reading. Cleverly done! You must put some work into the understanding of his rating hierarchy/system. You are also welcommed to give comments. Recommended!

Btw. Starostin is a Russian, living in Moscow.

It has changed a bit since i've bumped into it a year ago or so. First, there were no categories then, just a simple 1 to 5 artist rating. Second, as far as the Searchers' page goes, some corrections were made, and it became more 'fans-friendly', so to say, than it was then (but still some corrections are to be made... as far as i understand). On the other hand, the guidelines became more strict...

Interesting opinions from someone outside the Searchers legion of fans.

Obviously a number of factual errors and research shortcomings but that doesn't make any difference to the mans opinions, some of which I agree with.

An interesting read though it is too bad he hasn't heard the two Sire albums.
