Well, my guess is that with the bids on the table, the bidding went to 2800. When the high bidder went and removed his bid, it went back to $1000. Ken's bid was in there, which the seller knew. He probably enlisted a shill bidder or two to bring it back up to where he knew it was, around the $2800 mark. Ken didn't budge higher, so a possible shill bid won the auction. Thankfully Ken stood his ground, leaving the seller to relist his bass, as the high bidder was a shill.
From this point on, I'd let it be a lesson that this may be a dishonest seller. Maybe not, but I'd say shills were involved. He wouldn't get my bid.

Let me clarify that I'm thinking that shills were involved---I don't mean to be accusatory and say they were definitely involved,

I got second chance on it too. Methinks there were some shenanigans going on.

That last bidder was definatly a shill bidder but even so how do you prove it and with ebay making money there not going to do anything.

Why would that mellotron guy be a shill? He bought a Squire video recently and also purchased a $3000 plus mellotron.. Looks like real to me..

Is that the NOS V63? (new old stock). I thought Ken had that one locked down a week or two ago.
