Hey folks--anyone know the beginning and end years of the crushed-pearl / sparkle inlays? '64-'72?

Actually, they went into '73 as well.I had a May '73 360-12 that had these inlays. It was also seen, though how often I don't know, on some 50s Ricks as well.

Crushed-pearl must have started EARLY in 1964; the 360/12 made for Gerry Marsden had crushed-pearl inlay...it was ordered at the same time as John Lennon's 325/12, so Feb/March '64?? I personaly haven't seen a crushed-pearl guitar prior to 1964...The other two 12-string samples(George's 360/12 and the 625/12 belonging to Mike Campbell)have solid inlays and were made in Dec. 1963.

There is a color picture in the Smith book of a deluxe Capri prototype from around 1957-58 that appears to have crushed-pearl material for the inlays. Most others have the solid pearloid material...

Sure wish RIC was still doing them...

Rick would be doing them, if the material could be located. No one makes it, and it might have to be custom made, which could get expensive.

It could indeed get very expensive Don, however, I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that as an option (could the material be found) it would be a popular one.

Sparkles!

Surely one could find some drum covering or something which is at least in the ballpark...

Sorry to tell you that drum covering is not even remotely in the "ballpark" with regards to this item.
